Wear Tights for International Women's Day

Today is International Women's Day
"Annually on 8 March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. A global web of rich and diverse local activity connects women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events through to local women's craft markets, theatric performances, fashion parades and more."
So why not celebrate international women's day by wearing a pair of tights?  (That's addressed the the ladies by the way)
"BUT" - I hear you shout - "tights are a form of patriarchal oppression".

No.  Tights let you celebrate your strengths as a woman.

(1) Tights let you show your individuality
There are a great range of fun styles around.  And being a women is fun.

(2) Tights allow you show off your body
Don't accept the fundamentalist Islamic or Christian view that your body is evil and must be covered up - so men aren't tempted - that's their problem.  But don't show everything because you think its liberated - this only liberates guys.  Use tights as part of your wardrobe to hide, reveal and tease as is right for you.

(3) Wear tights at work
You are as good as, if not better than, any guy at work.  But wearing tights shows that you do things differently.  Not wearing the trousers doesn't mean not being in charge - but it means not having a bullying, unthinking, ego-centred, ignoring advice kind of management style.

(4) Share wearing tights with your sisters
Nice shoes and tights to celebrate all we have in common.

(5) Support your sister in tights
You can be a girl who likes girls and who likes tights
(6) Wear tights to commune with the goddess
Guys won't understand the joy of slipping your shoes off and just being with Nature.  (This of course can be done without tights, but that get chilly this time of year).

(7) Be a tights tease
Just because you are not a sex object, it doesn't mean you can't treat him like one.

And remember...
NO, NO, NO.  This is a job for men every day not just on International Women's Day
International Women's Day is a good excuse of a party
But you invite men at your peril - watch his hands... [and too ashamed to show his face]

  1. Not many ladies are wearing tights today. To cold I reckon My Mrs is even wearing trousers today but has her tights on under them she says she is going to flash the waistband of her tights to prove she is not wearing pop socks at work :)
