Katie and Kate bring sheer black back

A few weeks ago Joy of Tights complained that sheer black tights are being overlooked with the growth in nude tights.  Well at least if the Huffington post can be believed, Katie Holmes and Kate Middleton are trying to bring them back.


Kate and HRH William were out in England to pay a visit to the homeless charity Centrepoint. (Good for them). The Duchess paired her green Ralph Lauren turtleneck dress with a black belt, black wedge boots and those sheer black stockings - a twist on her famous nude tights look.

(Now Joy of Tights might argue that these are semi-opaque....  but its nice to see a more sheer black back).

And in the US of A, Katie Holmes wrapped up her week-long birthday trip in New York last night, heading to a Manhattan helioport with Tom Cruise and Suri. Holmes looked comfy and casual in a gray skirt, black and white top and black flats, paired with those sheer tights.

Katie also wore the translucent tights the night before, to attend to the premiere of Cruise's movie "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol."

Perhaps reinforced toe tights will be the next trend to come back - but I don't think so unless Kate is pictured in her stocking feet

I can't see Kate and Will be photographed like this.  Do Royal women go in stocking feet?  Do royal men have white socks?
