Now I know a lot of tights wearers are cat lovers.
But it appears that some of them have taken to dressing their cats in tights.
In an increasingly popular Tumblr featuring felines in tights -- aptly named “Meowfit of the Day” -- a cat named Gucci is seen dressed in a variety of coloured tights, shoes and socks. Now how many times do I have to say this: tights/pantyhose are for people not animals.

Gucci’s owner, Katja Wulff, and her boyfriend, Dan, live in Gothenburg in Sweden. Speaking to Metro UK, the couple says Gucci’s brothers, Iggy and Zappa, won’t put up with playing dress-up; only 16-year-old Gucci will don leggings and live up to his name. Well that's something at least; only one cat is being treated in a degrading and un-natural way. Still the point remains tights are for humans not cats.

The grey feline is “like a blob that we can place everywhere we want, and she just stays put and purrs,” Wulff says of Gucci, adding that the couple has been dressing up the cat for quite some time. The tights are part of Gucci’s evolving style, the owners say. Perhaps rather than dressing Gucci up it would be kinder to give Gucci some exercise - chasing mice, killing birds, the kind of thing Evolution intended?

“The tights thing was just another thing we wanted to try. And Gucci didn’t mind at all,” Wulff said. “[The blog] seems that it has put a smile on many people’s faces, and that’s really fun for us to see.” Excuse me how do you know he doesn't mind? OK, it makes lots of people happy. Happy is good. Nice utilitarian argument. But do we humiliate other humans to make people happy? (Errrr, come to think of it we do its called the "X-Factor" and "Britain's got talent"). Just maybe Ms Wulff should wear the tights herself to spread some happiness.
