Pornification

Shadow health minister Diane Abbott on Tuesday evening launched an attack on the "pornification" of British society, arguing our "hyper-sexualised" culture is damaging the British family.  Last month Abbott defined pornification as when young girls feel they only have value as sex objects, something they absorb "from the popular culture around them".  Of course the web is implicated in this.

Now we could argue about whether "hyper-sexualised" is a good thing.  Perhaps it increases the total amount of pleasure in the world.  Is it ever right to curtain freedom, even if it is freedom to enjoy sexual images and there are negative side effects?  (We let people drive - cars and think of all the negative side effects of that).

But in this post I want to concentrate on how many images of women in the web posted in blogs, facebook, flickr etc show how women can look good, sexy even:

• Without taking there clothes off
• ..... in fact showing very little bare skin
• Without having to take part in sex acts
• Wearing everyday and "non-slutty" clothes

Looking good by putting shoes on rather than taking clothes off

If you have take anything off, all you need to take off are your shoes.

Exhibit D

With foot fetishes so popular - all you need to show to be super sexy is your feet.  No need to flash your tits or other bits.  And you can have your feet in tights.

... bring out true beauty better than provocative poses.

So what are you waiting for?  Snap your friends in tights and post their pictures.  That's them in tights, not you, but come to think of it you could wear tights to do the snapping.
